Squad announced for first Super League game of the season!

Ian Watson has named his first 21 man squad of the new Betfred Super Leagues season and will travel overseas to France tomorrow ahead of Saturdays game ( live on SKY ko 7pm ).

Ian Watson said “We’ve obviously been building up to this since the start of pre-season and the excitement and anticipation for this game is at its peak, exactly where it should be at this point in the season. Everybody is raring to go and even the lads that aren’t selected this week are chomping at the bit and right behind the lads that are. If I’m honest, this group of players honesty and positivity gives us a lot of confidence going into this challenge . 

The challenge for us all is massive as this is a historic game for Toulouse, there will be a big crowd ( with very few Giants present for obvious reasons ) and lots of emotion around a game they’ve been building towards for a few years now, and we certainly won’t be taking the challenge lightly. We will have debutants in Chris Hill, Theo Fages, Tui Lolohea and Danny Levi whose experience will be tested I’m sure but that’s precisely the reason why I brought them to the club. 

This morning those debutants were presented their shirts by former player Tony Johnson. Tony spoke about what it means to play for this great club and what it meant for him to wear the Claret and Gold for the first time. I know Tony’s passion has got in to the hearts of the boys  and alongside newly appointed Captain Luke Yates and deputies Chris McQueen and Theo Fages I’ll be looking for them to set the right examples in the build-up and ultimately in performance.
