Get Fit with the Giants is a free 12 week fitness and healthy lifestyle programme for men over 30 from Huddersfield, Dewsbury and all over Kirklees. It includes: rugby-related activities, circuit training, motivational talks, advice on healthy eating, weight management and diabetes awareness. Funded and supported by Kirklees NHS the aim is to use the power of sport to tackle inactive lifestyles and avoid the penalties of diets high in sugar and fat by kick starting a healthier lifestyle.
Two past participants Simon, 39, and Terry, 71, joined Get Fit with the Giants to get more active and to learn how to reduce the amount of sugar and fats in their diets. Terry said “Get Fit with the Giants has been brilliant. I lost weight and an inch off my waist.” Simon lost two stones and dramatically reduced his blood pressure. The sessions take place at The Zone, off St Andrews Road, Huddersfield, HD1 6PT.
