‘Jerry’ was given the nod by Head coach Nathan Brown from the start of the 2011 season and that consequently proved to be a masterstroke. He finished as top scorer for the club with 17 tries showing his predatory instinct from the wing. Midway through the season he was rewarded by his fine form with a fresh five year contract before winning the Albert Goldthorpe ‘Rookie of the Year’ award for his consistent performances throughout the campaign.
2012 proved to be a mixture of highs and lows for the 24-year-old as the winger secured his England Knights opportunity before ultimately injury saw him sidelined for six weeks.
And as the off-season provided time for McGillvary to fix a continued ankle problem, he will now be looking to regain the sharpness and form that led him to become club top scorer and a nightmare for defences in 2013 in Super League XVIII.
