Full back Moves to Hull KR for Undisclosed Fee

Foster Care

Huddersfield Giants have agreed to the release of full back Greg Eden to Hull Kingston Rovers for an undisclosed fee. The 22 year old made 26 appearances in 2012 scoring 13 tries. Eden has signed a three year deal on Humberside.

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis outlined how this move came about:

“Paul Anderson has explained to the Board that the Giants will be playing with a different style and structure in 2013. One consequence of these changes will be a different role for the full back. Paul has made it very clear to the Board that he views the full back role next year as being for Aaron Murphy and Scott Grix to battle over and young Greg Eden would be behind those two in the first instance. Given where he is in his career we believe Greg will benefit from being with a club where he can expect to be the first choice full back.

“We are confident that Greg has considerable potential yet he was unlikely to get game time with the Giants and didn’t want him waiting to see if he fitted in with John Kear’s plans at Batley. In addition we have Leroy Cudjoe who we all know is a fine full back thus there is complete confidence that we can cover full back with a number of established quality options.

“The proposal from Hull KR clearly is in Greg’s best interests and we have included a clause giving us the option for Greg to return to the Giants at the end of the 2014 season.  He thus moves on with our very best wishes. We will naturally follow his progress with great interest and are confident that this is the right arrangement for ourselves, Hull KR and most importantly Greg himself.”
