Huddersfield Giants have taken Wakefield half back/hooker Kyle Wood on a season long loan after which he has signed a three year deal to take him to the end of 2016 in the claret and gold. The 24 year old has made 15 appearances for the Wildcats this year scoring 3 tries.

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis spoke to

“We are delighted to be able to bring forward the planned arrival of Kyle to the club and as such have released our previous loan player Brad Dwyer back to the Wolves. Brad did a great job for us as we believe we did for him too and we wish him every success in the future and thank the Warrington club for allowing him to spend some time with us.

“Our long term plan was always to strengthen the options in the halves and hooking area so with Kyle being out of contract at the end of this year it was natural that we would target him once the relevant deadlines had passed and we have known for a while that he would be a Giant next year. His form has remained good and we believe that there even more improvements to come as he matures and gains more experience which only time can bring. His early arrival is a real boost to us all ahead of the back end of the season and I’m sure he will be well received by the supporters."

Wood has trained today with the Giants and will get the immediate thoughts of Head Coach Paul Anderson at the scheduled weekly press conference later today.

Kyle Wood has been handed squad number 32.
