Round 7 clash vs Warrington Wolves to be the Club’s Heritage game
Huddersfield Giants have announced that the Round 7 First Utility Super League tie against Warrington Wolves on Sunday 30th March (KO 3pm) at the John Smith’s Stadium will be the Club’s designated Heritage game.
The clash between the Giants and the Wolves will be the 100 year anniversary, to the day, of Albert Rosenfeld scoring his 80th try in a record breaking season which saw the Huddersfield Giants go onto claim the Championship, the Challenge Cup, the Yorkshire Cup along with becoming Yorkshire League Champions.
The day will be launched by a Masters rugby league fixture between Huddersfield RL Legends and West Yorkshire Police (KO 11:30 am) at Fartown which will include the likes of former greats including:
Paul Reilly, Marcus St Hilaire, Lee St Hilaire, David Oates, Paul Royston, Neil Flanagan, Anthony Farrell, Alan Boothroyd, Phil Huck, Colin Harris, Martin Maders, Damon Scholes, Rob Salmon, Darren Fleary.
At half time 50 Huddersfield Rugby League legends including Tony Johnson, Brian Blacker, Ken Senior, Gary Senior, Ian Van Bellen, Ian Thomas, Dave Weavill and Derek Wroe will be introduced to supporters at half time at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The day will also see a tribute to Fartown Legend Keith Burhouse who sadly passed away earlier this month. There will be a minutes silence before the game and the Giants players will wear black armbands.
There will also be chance to purchase two exclusive ranges of Heritage collector’s cards. One set includes 21 players from the Claret and Gold’s Hall of Fame along with another 29 greats from the Club. The second set commemorates professional players who started their careers at one of Huddersfield’s amateur outfits. The sets are priced at £5 each.
