Huddersfield Giants travel to the DW Stadium on Sunday to take on Wigan Warriors, kick-off 3pm and Claret and Gold winger, Aaron Murphy is prepared for a tough battle.

Murphy returned to action in last week’s game against Leigh Centurions, following a brief spell on the sidelines with injury and the winger wants a big performance on Sunday:

“It wasn’t a good game last week, we could have done a lot better but we have got to put that behind us now and focus on our game against Wigan this week and make sure we put a performance in.

“From a personal point I’m feeling all good now, it was just a little ankle strain but that is all fixed now and I’m good to go.

“The problems from Friday’s game with our attacking execution is easily fixable I think. Obviously we had a few injuries from the week before so it was quite a short turnaround a few of us weren’t training so we didn’t get our combinations but we have got a longer turnaround and hopefully we can get a few more bodies back out onto the training field and fix some things up before Wigan on Sunday.”

The Claret and Gold squad have had a nine day turnaround in preparation for Sunday and Murphy believes this will help, following a tough spell with injuries affecting the squad:

“Having a longer turnaround can be a good and bad thing. I suppose it can be bad coming off the back of a defeat because you just want to get straight back out there and put things right but for us with the amount of injuries we have got at the moment, it is a good thing because we can get out onto the training field and work some combinations and fix up our final play executions for this week.

“Against Hull FC the young lads put in a good performance but I suppose having internationals in the likes of Leroy and Jerry back on the field is important for us and we’re glad to have them all back.”

Shaun Wane’s side are in fine form at the moment with four wins out of four so far this season and Murphy knows to expect to a tough game:

“Every time you play Wigan away it is always a tough game but we need to make sure that we put a performance in. We’re in a better place than we were this time last year and it’s a long season so we just need to make sure we put a performance in this week.”
