ADAM O'BRIEN: EACH WEEK LIKE A GRAND FINAL

Adam O'Brien talks about the youthful Giants side, concussion protocols and the competitiveness of Super League.

Adam O’Brien says the win last week against Salford has given the squad a new lease of confidence ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Catalans Dragons.

“We were very happy to get the win last time out - It’s was a massive win for us and it’s boosted are morale and we have got some confidence back in the side.”

Much has been made of the sides youthful feel in 2019, and as a Leadership Group member, O’Brien has stressed the importance of developing the squad’s experience and passing on knowledge from the older members of the squad to the younger ones.

“We need to help improve their game with our experiences, we have some amazing and very talented young players in the squad.”

Super League is tighter than ever in 2019, and with so little between the teams, the fight for points and has given each week a playoff feel, according to O’Brien.

“With such a euphoric mood in the camp after last week’s game, we’re all excited and looking forward to every game, each week is like a grand final for us.”

The Hooker was stretchered off the field early on in last week’s game, but has made a recovery, despite missing this week’s Continental Clash with Catalans. He’s had many well wishes from fans and assures them that he is okay.

“I’ve had many people wishing me well after my injury early on in last week’s games – Yes, I am okay, back on my feet and doing everything I can to be back on the pitch, will just have to go through the concussion protocol.”

“For those who don’t know about the protocols, you first have to make sure am getting no more symptoms of concussion (sickness, dizziness, headaches) and then you have to do a little bit of bike training and running hopefully without symptoms and then it’s like that step by step until your fully training again. The protocols are frustrating but are ultimately there to protect us.”

The Giants are offering all supporters tickets for just £15 to the #ContinentalClash this Friday, with Kids entry reduced to just £1!
