Clough departs by mutual consent

Paul Clough has left Huddersfield Giants after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract

Paul Clough has left Huddersfield Giants by mutual consent ending his three-year association with the club.

The prop-forward made 79 appearances since signing for the Giants in 2017, winning the 2018 Player of the Year award.

Richard Thewlis, Managing Director said: "Paul was not going to be offered a deal for 2021, so the decision was made to settle his contract early.

“The coaching staff were comfortable with the selection of middles, with Gavet, Matagi, English, Wilson, Ta’ai, Walne, Kirby and Lawrence, who are all available for selection as it stands, as well as our young International Academy prop Robson Stevens should we need to draft him into action later in the year.

“We would like to thank Paul for his service to the club and wish him all the best for the future. He has been an excellent player and person for us and will in my view undoubtedly be a great pick-up for any club that is looking for an experienced forward in 2021.”

"We would like to thank Paul for his service to the club and wish him all the best for the future."
