Sezer 'not focused' on individual accolades

Aidan Sezer provided a man of the match performance in last night's 32-22 win over Hull KR, that has seen interest in his performances rising, with Giants captain hitting joint top of the Man of Steel rankings last week before the outstanding individual performance in the Giants third successive win.

He insists, however, that the team is the key to success and he's not interested in his own performance, but picking up the wins to see the Giants challenge for the coveted Top 4 place.

"Not really focused on that, really. It's a team performance and I'm glad the team got the result" said Sezer, who was awarded the Man of the Match by the OurLeague broadcasters at last nights game. Asked whether he was looking at the Man of Steel table, he gave an equally team-focused response:

"I haven't really, individual accolades are always nice but I'm focused on them really, I'm focused on the team getting points and achieving their goals."

The Giants were commanding in the first half, going into the shed 18-0 at half-time, but a hat-trick from Matt Parcell brought the Robins hope of snatching victory in the late stages. Sezer wasn't happy with the opening quarter of the second stanza, and believes consistency and ruthlessness are something to work on in the following weeks.

"I think we started really well and let ourselves down in the first quarter of the second half" said Sezer, "It's something to work on - we need to be more ruthless as a team and we need to make sure we play for 80 minutes as a team."

The Giants now face Salford Red Devils next Thursday, live on Sky Sports, looking to make it four wins from four since Robinson was installed as Interim Head Coach.
