Salford 22 (8)

Huddersfield Giants' winning run under new coach Luke Robinson has ended with a comeback defeat to Challenge Cup Finalists, Salford Red Devils.

The Giants started the better of the two teams in the early stages, with Leroy Cudjoe benefitting from Aidan Sezer & Lee Gaskell's reunited combination in the halves to score in the 15th minute, after an opening few minutes that was neck and neck between the two sides.

Aidan Sezer crossed over two minutes later to double the Giants lead, after his second conversion of the night. Salford reduced the arrears with ten-minutes to go in the first half thanks to Chris Atkin, who picked the pocket of Darnell McIntosh to give the Red Devils their opening score of the game, with Krisnan Inu converting the try to make the scores 12-6.

Dan Sarginson was sent to the sin-bin for a dangerous contact, giving the Giants a man advantage for the last stages of the first half.

Despite Giants pressure, the Red Devils held firm and thanks to a penalty for offside, were able to pull within four of the Giants at the break, with the Claret & Gold leading 12-8.

The Giants gave away a raft of penalties to open the second half, leading to Kenny Edwards' sin binning in the 46th minute, with Salford taking full advantage of the man advantage, crossing in the corner thanks to Inu, who converted his own try to give Salford a lead for the first time in the match. Inu was in again in the 63th minute, to make the scores 18-12 with 17 left to play.

Aidan Sezer reaped the rewards of a fabulous kick-chase led by Darnell McIntosh to cross over to potentially level the game, but skewed the conversion to leave the Giants trailing 16-18.

But it wasn't to be, as Inu completed his 24 minute hat-trick in the 72nd minute, and converted the try again, to give the Red Devils a 24-16 lead going into the final minutes. Despite ambitious play from the Giants to break the resolute Salford defence, the Giants record their first loss in four matches and now go into their game against Hull FC needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
