Huddersfield Giants Update

Dear Supporter of the Giants,

The players are well into their Pre Season Training in our exciting new era under Head Coach, Ian Watson, so I wanted to personally update you on matters concerning the Huddersfield Giants.

Like the vast majority of you, I am in lockdown, and unable to view training first hand or have any personal interaction with individuals at the Club. Fortunately, technology helps us to meet online, and through Giants TV, as well as social media, and I have been delighted to see the same positive signs, as you will all have done. I am incredibly excited about the potential of the squad that Ian Watson has at his disposal, and am eagerly looking forward to the day when we can all get back into the stadium to watch the Claret and Gold Giants in action.

Many of you have asked about this years season cards and I am delighted to say we plan to announce the details in Mid February. We have held back in the hope of having a better idea of when the lockdown regulations might ease. The vaccine rollout appears to be on track and of course, our own stadium is playing its part for the people of Kirklees, which is wonderful to see.

The stadium is a community asset first and foremost and it is right that it plays its part in fighting this virus.

The harsh reality for the Huddersfield Giants, however, is that we cannot continue indefinitely without one of our key income streams, season cards and, as I say, we plan to be on sale in mid-February. I say plan, simply because the past year has shown how dramatically things can change – what will not change though is the Clubs need for income.

Nonetheless, we have assembled a superb Squad capable of competing and winning at the highest level, supported by an outstanding coaching team. All our overseas players (both new and existing) are here, and training with the squad. Certainly, as I look out of my window at the snow I imagine a few must be thinking it’s a very different world to that they have left behind in Brisbane and Sydney! However its all a part of their Giant adventure, and I sincerely hope that they and their team-mates are able to showcase their talents to a live audience of supporters, as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Critical to the survival of your Club has been the tremendous support from fans and sponsors throughout 2020 and I would like to publicly thank each and every one of you. The level of your donations from 2020 were amongst the highest in the game, which is fantastic. Alongside that, the Giant Cash Bonanza Lottery and Giants TV remain well supported and our new online-only retail model has also helped our overall funding.

There are no doubt financial challenges for us off the field in 2021 are going to be very significant however with your continued backing, I am convinced that we will have an exciting season which will go some way to lifting everyone's spirits, in what I know have been devastating times for so many.

My sincere thanks for your continued support and I look forward to writing to you again in the not too distant future with details of our season card offering for the BetFred 2021 Super League season.

Best wishes and stay safe,

Yours in Sport

Ken Davy
