Giants register historic first Women's Super League win

Huddersfield Giants Women 28-20 Bradford Bulls Women

Huddersfield Giants Women made history on Sunday as they came back from 20-12 down to win 28-20 at Warrington's Victoria Park, sealing their first ever Women's Super League win.

The Giants opened the scoring through winger Amelia Brown, but Stacey Greenwood would strike for the Bulls soon after, levelling the scores after a Sarah Dunn conversion for Bradford. Dunn then scored herself but missed the extras to make it 10-6 to the Bulls.

Izzy Northrop would strike back for the Giants to put them ahead with a tremendous break, but Grace Ramsden would give the Bulls the advantage again courtesy of an chip over the top to give the Bulls at 14-12 half-time lead.

The Giants went further behind in the 45th minute courtesy of Dunn again, and the Bulls lead of eight looked comfortable, but for a stirring comeback from the Giants Women. First Annie Loney, then Erin Stott crossed over with 63 minutes on the clock to level the scores before Amelia Brown would grab her second try of the day to put the Giants in front.

The Bulls were finished off with a try in the final seconds by Regen Walker, and the Giants sealed their historic first Women's Super League victory. They now face Wigan Warriors Women next in the Women's Super League, but there will be few afternoons quite like this one for Huddersfield Giants Women on their development as a Women's Super League team.
