Loan Watch | Championship Treble Winners

It was a superb weekend for our loanees, as George Roby, Fenton Rogers and Aidan McGowan all recorded Championship victories with their respective teams!

With a keen eye on our stars progress in the Betfred Championship, the Giants currently have three of their younger players earning experience in the sport's second tier.

Prop and Hooker, Fenton Rogers and George Roby are currently both on season-long loans at local neighbours Bradford Bulls, with Mark Dunning's side recording a victory over previously unbeaten Toulouse on Saturday.

George and Fenton were included in the final 17-Man Squad, with George playing a large chunk of the game, interchanging with George Flanagan Sr, while Fenton started the game and played around 25 minutes.

George, impressing the Bradford fans with his direct style of play, quick play the balls and fast work from the hooking role, has become a mainstay within the team in the early parts of the season and has been influential in the back to back victories over Widnes Vikings and Toulouse.

Towering forward Fenton, has been included in every squad so far in 2023 for Bradford, and has also impressed the Bradford fans for his hard tackling technique and no-nonsense style when running the ball in, both have proved valuable assets for Mark Dunning's Bulls.

Meanwhile in Batley, Aidan McGowan was selected at Full-Back by Craig Lingard and impressed as Batley recorded another Championship victory over newcomers Keighley Cougars.

There was a moment of panic, however as in his haste to take a high kick, Aidan was caught high and left the field for a HIA assessment, but passed and returned to catch the eye with some impressive breaks. He also had a hand in the last minute winner, with Bulldogs winger Dale Morton crossing in the corner.

Aidan linked up well with half's Meadows and White for Batley, with a number of line breaks that propelled the Bulldog's up the field, including the last few plays of the game which saw them take the two points away from visitors Keighley.

We can't forget young winger Connor Carr, who's Oldhan RLFC side lost out marginally 26-24 to Doncaster RLFC in the Betfred Challenge Cup, with Connor coming onto the field from the Interchange bench.
