Match Preview | Castleford Tigers

Looking to make it back-to-back Betfred Super League victories, we welcome Castleford to our house on Friday!

Giants Squad News

With Ian Watson's Giants picking up their first two Betfred Super League points of the season, we will look to secure our first home victory of the season at the John Smith's Stadium, vs Castleford Tigers.

Head Coach Ian Watson will have his full squad to choose from apart from the known absentees, with marquee signing Jake Connor still in recovery from his injury in the off-season, and Kevin Naiqama sitting out due to a strain which saw him miss the Wakefield victory.

After impressing vs Wakefield, new signing Jake Bibby will once again look to continue his form into this game, and will be aiming to score his first competitive try for the Giants.

The Opposition Team

The Tigers parted ways with Head Coach Lee Radford on Monday, after losing the first three games of the season.

This game will pose a challenge for the Giants, with the Tigers looking to impress and pick up their first victory of the season.

Andy Last has been placed in interim charge of the Tigers and will be at the helm for this Round 4 Clash at the John Smith's Stadium.

Key Men

Castleford boast a highly experienced Super League team, with a dangerous half partnership of Jacob Miller and Gareth Widdop, with both joining in the off-season.

As much as it hasn't turned out how the Castleford faithful would have hoped so far, they are two experienced players and can pose a threat at all times, as shown in the pre-season friendly where Widdop had an impact that afternoon.

They also have a sizeable pack, with Liam Watts and new signing Albert Vote at the forefront, both will be looking to power the Fords up the field to help them to victory.

Last Season

In 2022, at home, we defeated Castleford 36-10 and 36-24, with half Olly Russell scoring his only try of the season! (I'm sure he'll thank us for that)

The Giants will be looking to make it two wins out of two, as they take on a tough side in the Castleford Tigers, with plenty going on around the ground in our new and improved Fanzone, so get down early and soak up the atmosphere!

We're looking to pack the Core Stand Lower, so this is the place to be for this gameday!
