MATCH PREVIEW | WIGAN WARRIORS (H)

As we look to make it three wins on the spin, and two home victories, we take an in-depth look at our opponents Wigan Warriors!

Giants Squad News

After we defeated Castleford Tigers and picked up our first home victory in the process, Ian Watson's men will be looking to go back-to-back and defeat Wigan Warriors at the John Smith's Stadium on Friday evening.

Theo Fages and Joe Greenwood were both forced from the field in the victory over Castleford and face time on the sidelines, with See Ikahihifo and Harry Rushton replacing them in Ian Watson's 21-Man Squad.

After impressing in the 36-6 win over Castleford, Will Pryce and Olly Russell are both included in the squad and will be looking to continue their fine form.

The Opposition Team

Wigan Warriors, by their standards have had a disappointing start to the season as they find themselves with two wins and two losses.

Matty Peet's side come into this game on the back of a loss to Catalans Dragons at the DW Stadium, and will be looking for a reaction as they look to get back to winning ways.

Their only two off-season signings were two former Giants men in Toby King and Jake Wardle, in a deal that saw Sam Halsall and Jack Bibby come the other way, with prolific winger Jake Bibby also joining in a major coup for Ian Watson's side.

Key Men

Wigan boast probably the most prolific partnership in Super League with full-back Jai Field and winger Bevan French, with both scoring a combined 51 tries in 2022 they will be the ones to watch when the Warriors come to town.

The Australian winger joined the club in 2019 and has gone on to score over 50 tries so far for the Cherry and Whites.

Wigan named an unchanged 21-Man Squad after their defeat to Catalans, but could look to freshen up their squad with the introduction of forward Liam Byrne and hooker Brad O'Neill.

Last Season

In 2022 we defeated Wigan Warriors 32-22, with Sam Hewitt scoring late on to wrap up the win, as Wigan threatened a comeback with minutes remaining at the John Smith's Stadium.

We will be looking to continue our home form vs Wigan Warriors this Friday, with Adults going for £21 at the John Smith's Stadium, get your tickets now.
