Match Report | Hull FC

Huddersfield Giants lost out 20-14 to Hull FC at the MKM Stadium.

Ian Watson named one change to his side that defeated Catalans Dragons last time out, as the returning Oliver Wilson, who recovered from a back issue took the place of Jack Ashworth on the Interchange bench.

Jake Connor got the scoreboard ticking early on, as he forced FC winger Adam Swift to concede a goal line drop out, it sailed out on the full from Jake Clifford, and we elected for the two.

Hull FC scored the first try however, as several offloads saw Liam Sutcliffe race over for the home sides opening score.

Ian Watson’s men would re-take the lead, after some smart play from Tui Lolohea, saw him send Chris McQueen over for his 6th of the season, Jake Connor adding the two.

Jake Clifford levelled the scores, as Hull FC were awarded a penalty in front of the sticks for a late hit, he stepped up and added two points to leave us level at 8-8.

The sides still couldn’t be separated, as Jake Connor attempted a drop goal on the hooter, but it was charged down and the half-time whistle sounded.

Straight after the restart, Hull were awarded a penalty for a high tackle and took advantage of the field position to score, Chris Satae racing over unopposed underneath the sticks.

The Giants marched up the field, through Oliver Wilson and some smart play sent Sam Halsall over in the corner, but the try wasn’t awarded, and Hull would race down the field to score.

Davey Litten, on the Giants line was awarded a free offload to Liam Sutcliffe who took advantage and scored his second of the afternoon.

Esan Marsters grabbed his first try in Giants colours, from another Jake Connor kick but it wasn’t to be enough.

The Giants struggled to get going in the second half, with errors and missee chances the story of the game in which Hull FC ran out 20-14 winners.
