Read all about how our Academy narrowly lost out to Hull KR on Friday evening 26-20.

The Giants started strong, Matt Hanley launched a pass to Jack Hudson who crashed over to send the visitors ahead, the youngster had scored 4 tries against Leeds previously, in a 34-30 victory at Stanningley for Tom Tsang’s side.

Louix Gorman then managed to get over for the home side, making the scores level at 4-4

Tom Smith barged over from close range the home side, Hull KR taking the lead in what was a close encounter in the early stages.

Hull KR started to take control of the encounter, as they crossed the whitewash again, pushing their lead out to 12 points at Craven Park.

There was momentary rest bite for the Giants, as a try from the Kick-Off saw Matt Hanley score to reduce the deficit, as the restart wasn’t collected by the home side, we raced away to touch down.

The Giants pressed hard, but it was Hull KR that would score the next try, as Jacob Parkinson went low and found his way to the line, leaving the scores at 22-10 moments from the interval.

Giants winger Bailey Tait raced over in the corner soon after half-time, to claw us back into the game after Darius Carter took a looping pass to race down the left hand-side.

It wasn’t to be enough, however as The Robins crossed over with Kieran Smith, he sidestepped through and crossed over for the Robins fifth try of the evening.

There was time for one more score from Tom Tsang’s side, as Andy Gill scrambled over from dummy-half to reduce the arrears, before a serious injury halted proceeding.

With 20 minutes remaining, play time was reduced to ten minutes to avoid a clash with the first team game and Hull KR defended resolutely to avoid a score equalling try from the Giants, with the Robins running out 26-20 winners.
