English departs

Huddersfield Giants Matthew English will join York Knights for the remainder of the Betfred 2027 playing Season.

The decision not to extend the 27 year old beyond the end of this year was a difficult one for the club to make and today's announcement will help Matthew establish his path in 2027 and beyond.

Director of Rugby, Andy Kelly said, 

“It’s a sad day to see Matty go, but he goes with all of our best wishes for the future. He has been allowed to explore this opportunity to get some more game time that he isn’t getting with us at the moment.

I would like to thank Matty for his outstanding service to the club, a product of our youth system, and wish him all the best at York and beyond.”

The changes being implemented at the club ahead of the huge announcement against Catalans on Saturday 8th August Kick off, 2pm are an ongoing and rapidly evolving process and one that excites Kelly

We expect in the coming weeks to be making further announcements which we hope will excite all and, at the same time, continue the week to week improvements that all can and will see are beginning to manifest in performances on the field.”
