GIANTS DEMOLISH LEIGH IN IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE

Huddersfield Giants picked up another two points with a dominant win over Leigh Leopards.

The visitors started the game the stronger out of the two teams, and after Hewitt slid in for a ball, he was hit late and knocked on in the process, he instantly failed his HIA on the field and Leigh too advantage of the turnover, as they scored through Trout, the former Giant.

We hit back soon after however, as a crash ball from Rushton saw the 13 power through Liu and score, Flanagan levelling the scores.

That gave us the impetus to go on and attack again, winning a penalty through Evalds who was hit late, Flanagan took the option of the two and we hit the front for the first time.

A rather fortuitous try then from the Giants pushed our lead further with mere minutes remaining in the first half, a high kick from Lolohea on the last was dropped by Senior, and there was Taane Milne to collect and score under the posts, Flanagan added another two and we go in at half-time 14-6 up.

After the half-time break, with the Giants down to three subs, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Giants would run out of steam, but not this team under Jim Lenihan, as we stormed to another try.

Zac Woolford spotted a gap at play the ball, and a tiring Leigh defence parted ways for Evalds to support and glide over underneath the posts, handing George an easy conversion attempt, 20-6 the scores stood.

An unbelievable performance from the Giants was placed under threat, with a try from Hanley, after incessant pressure on the Giants line, we held firm until a crash ball from Cook saw the centre score to narrow the gap, 20-12.

Zenon went close for the second time of the evening, looking to dive over in the corner but his foot narrowly was in touch in the action of scoring, a great call from touch judge Ryan Cox.

Cole Geyer who had been instrumental since coming onto the field in the second half, combining well with Zac Woolford who moves to loose forward, came together to seal the game for the Giants.

A deft kick from Germ saw Geyer touch down to the left of the posts, Zenon taking over kicking duties with George being helped from the field with an injury, 26-12 the game stood.

Leigh got desperate and went short from kick off, they collected and Mulhern scored on the last to pull the scores slightly closer with five minutes to go.

Errors galore from the visitors saw us with another chance on the Leopards line, Coley Geyer grabbing a double with a scoot from dummy-half to wrap up another well deserved two points, UP THE GIANTS!
