All the key moments, highlights and takeaways from the Giants golden-point loss to Castleford.

Takeaways

Although a narrow loss against the Tigers is disappointing, there was much to admire about the Huddersfield performance on Friday night. Lee Gaskell especially performed classily from Stand Off, and worked the conditions well. Oliver Russell also produced a spectacular 40/20 under-pressure with five minutes to go to launch a late attack that led to Joe Wardle's try.

Despite being the third time in 2019 that the Giants had lost by 1 point, the performances against sides in the Top 5 continue to indicate that the Claret and Gold are not far off and still in the hunt for a playoff spot. They lie just two points from 6th and four points from 5th in the Super League table, and with the League Leaders, Wigan and Wakefield left to play in June.

Up Next

Huddersfield visit the Totally Wicked Stadium next up as they face the League Leaders St Helens. The Saints come into the game on the back of a golden point loss of their own, against bottom side London at Trailfinders last week. They'll be looking to bounce back but will have to try and win the game without James Roby, who will undergo Groin Surgery this week.
