CELEBRATE #UNDERBANK135 ON SEPTEMBER 7

Celebrate Huddersfield's Underbank Rangers, the oldest Rugby League club in the world, as they turn 135 on September 7th
On September 7, Underbank Rangers from Holmfirth - one of the oldest amateur rugby league teams in the world - celebrate their 135th anniversary.
And they have a bumper day of junior and senior rugby planned, in addition to family entertainment, at The Cross, their base off Dunford Road.
Underbank's senior team kick off at 2.30pm against Thatto Heath in the National Conference Premier on that day, but there are three junior matches in the build-up, starting at 10am.
At teatime, there will be a Masters game and, following that, a band will perform live.
The historic club are keen to mark their milestone in style.
Underbank were founded in 1884 and, in the early 1900s launched the career of rugby league legend Harold Wagstaff - the Prince of Centres, Huddersfield RL icon and captain of Great Britain in the famous Rorke's Drift Test in Autralia in 1914.
Wagstaff, who played as a pro for Huddersfield at 15, was the first player to have his name entered into the Rugby League Hall of Fame.
The club have three thriving junior teams, the Under 12s, Under 10s and Under 8s.
On September 7 the club will be hosting a day of rugby league and entertainment as follows:
10am – U12s v Hunslet Parkside
10.50am – U10s v club to be confirmed
11.30am – U8s v Dewsbury
2.30pm – NCL v Thatto Heath
5pm – Underbank Rangers Masters v Huddersfield Giants Masters
6pm – The Bad Asteroids band from Leeds will perform
Also throughout the day are:
The Vintage Tipple Van, bouncy castle, face painting, BBQ, tombola, faffle, tuck shop and both outside and inside bars.
