As Huddersfield announced their 6th signing of the off-season today, bringing highly rated back-rower Owen Trout to the John Smith's Stadium for 2020. Here are six facts you might not know about the forward;

- Owen made his professional debut in 2019 for Dewsbury in a 26-0 defeat at the hands of Halifax. He went on to make 15 appearances for the Rams during the 2019 Championship season.

- His 2019 season also saw him play on dual-registration for Featherstone in the inaugural 1895 Cup. Rovers fell short against a strong Widnes side, losing 22-16.

- Despite playing more games for Dewsbury last season, Owen has spent his entire junior and professional career at Leeds, and made his debut for the Rhinos in this year’s Challenge Cup.

- After the impressive demolition of Workington in the cup, Trout was handed a Super League debut over the Easter weekend, but the Rhinos fell short by two points to near rivals Wakefield. His first Super League win came just one week later, when Trout lined up against Hull KR, the Rhinos walking away 28-24 victors at Headingley.

- An England academy international, Owen has lined up alongside Louis and Innes Senior, and Oliver Wilson whilst playing for the Wall of White.

- Owen’s older brother, Kyle Trout, is a Hull KR player who came back into the fold at KC Craven Park towards the end of the season, after spending the season playing alongside Owen at Dewsbury Rams.
