Fox becomes Reserve Coach

Steve Fox has been appointed as our new Reserve Grade Head Coach

Huddersfield Giants can confirm that Steve Fox has been appointed to the clubs coaching staff and will commence in late January. His predominant remit will be the clubs reserve side but he will also work with the first grace and other younger grade teams too. Fox comes with experience form working at the Leeds Rhinos' in their Academy system.

Fox said: "I am really excited and looking forward to the challenge of being appointed as the Reserve Grade Coach. I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to work and develop under Andy Kelly, Simon Woolford and the rest of the Giants staff."

Huddersfield Giants Rugby Manager, Andy Kelly said: "He's a man who I'm very familiar with and someone I feel understands the ethos and pathway we are trying to create at Huddersfield Giants. He has had a varied career, from working in the prisons service to working in education, and understands the need to develop and nurture players within our system to play Giants Rugby.

"His experience with Leeds means he has an in depth knowledge of the local area and has allowed him to understand the processes and structures associated with the Super League"

"Alongside the appointment of Kim Williams, we feel that Steve will develop our pathway to create and hone the skills and attitudes of our players all the way from Scholarship, through Academy and Reserves all the way to the first team. "

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said “Reserves is a new concept to us and our method of facilitating it to best develop our and Halifax and Hunslets players too is a different to what was probably imagined when the RFL made this compulsory.

"In Steve Fox we have a coach well known by many of our players and staff through his work at the Rhinos and we believe he is the right man to bring the new team together as well as work with the younger players that we have now and will identify going forward.

"It will be a fluid role that Steve has with Andy Kelly overseeing matters and its one that I am sure, as I have said throughout our off season of significant change, will develop and improve us as a club moving forward."
