Golding set for extended sideline spell

Simon Woolford has provided an update on the injury to Ashton Golding

Simon Woolford has confirmed that full-back Ashton Golding will spend an extended spell on the sidelines following a hamstring injury.

The Giants coach confirmed during his weekly press conference this week

“At this stage he’s out for an extended period, we're looking at 2-3 months out” said Woolford.

"He's going to be a little while. We hoped it wasn't anything too bad. We had an ultrasound which gave us some hope but the scans have come back and have obviously revealed something more sinister.

"He'll see a specialist in London, and we'll know more next week but it's looking like an extended period out."

With Golding out, Darnell McIntosh looks set to take the reigns at full-back, but Woolford has faith in the Giants youngster

“It’s disappointing for all of us and in particular for Ash. We have full confidence in Darnell (McIntosh) getting the job done in his absence.”
