Crabtree on Friday: Put down a marker

Eorl Crabtree talks the Walk for Rob, Salford and getting an extra days rest

Well, we wanted two wins from two, but we've had to settle for a P-P draw instead. The heavens opened and rained our Homecoming, and denied the Cowbell Army the chance to see the new look team in their first encounter of the 2020 Super League Season at the John Smith's Stadium.

I'd like to draw attention to those who completed the Walk for Rob. They braved Storm Ciara to walk from Headingley all the way to the John Smith's Stadium to arrive for the postponed game. It would have been great to see them honoured at the fixture but unfortunately it wasn't to be. Regardless, it was an absolutely fantastic achievement and we're all really proud of them. Our Academy and Backroom Staff completed the walk alongside fans of both clubs and congratulations to everyone who took part.

With us having a week without a game, the theory is that we're going to be undercooked going into the game against Salford. However, if as Simon Woolford said in his press conference this week, it's allowed us to spend more time on the challenge of the Grand Finalists, Salford Red Devils. We ought to be extra prepared and clued up on facing a difficult side away from home.

This is a chance for the side to perform in front of the Sky cameras and really put down a marker to the rest of Super League. The squad should be itching just a little bit more to show their new shapes and structures to the world and really make a statement. I'm looking forward to the game and I'm hoping we can get a result that keeps our 100% record going strong.
