The Sezer Column: Put down a marker

Our skipper talks the win at Salford, the challenge of Hull KR and his appreciation of the fans in his latest column.

First of all, thanks to all for making the trip to Salford to see our second win of the season, your support was absolutely outstanding. It was great to travel home with the two points from a really tough match against the 2019 Grand Finalists. While some of our attacking play was a little rusty, our defence was outstanding and I was really pleased to see our commitment and desire to get the win. 

Onto this week's opponents, Hull Kingston Rovers are a competitive team who will be itching to get a win on the board in front of their home fans after a disappointing performance last week. They'll be looking to put a market down to the rest of Super League, and we'll have to be at our best to get something out of the game. 

If we apply ourselves and maintain the defensive commitment we've shown in the last two rounds, however, we know we're capable of beating anyone and our training has been excellent in the lead-up to the fixture. We're a tight group with some real leaders in the paddock and we're looking to put down a marker ourselves and show the rest of Super League that our performances in the first two game weeks weren't a fluke - we're here to be competitive throughout the season and this week will be another real test to achieve our goals for 2020. 

Craven Park is, I'm told, a really tough place to play and the home fans are vociferous and want to get on top of you. This is one of the tests you face week in, week out in Super League and means that the support that our travelling contingent provides is vital. I look forward to seeing the Cowbell Army there and in advance, would like to thank all of them for making the trip. Lets hope we come out of it with the two points.
