Giants pass halfway mark in drive for Sell Out in opening rounds
Supporters urged to buy Season Cards now to avoid missing opening games
The number of Huddersfield Giants 2021 Season Card holders has now exceeded 50% of the permitted capacity for the opening rounds of the BetFred Super League that current regulations state will see the return of crowds to stadiums.
The capacity of 4000 is set initially from May 17th and the clubs target is that home games from that point will be occupied solely by season card holders in the first instance. As things stand the club will host Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils in June with a maximum of 4000 permitted attendees with the government set later in the year to review precisely what happens from June 21st onwards.
Huddersfield Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said: “The early signs on our Season Cards are very positive and to a degree have overwhelmed our capacity under the job retention scheme to cope with the demand from those changing from physically visiting us to purchase in the past to now having to purchase online."
"That said we are working through everyone's application via phone or post with additional staffing having been brought in and all will be dealt with well ahead of the start of the season with the likelihood that the current backlog will be cleared by the middle part of this week."
"The reality of our first couple of games when we expect supporters in the ground is that despite the size of stadium the capacity will be 4000 with social distancing measures in place, which we'll get into further down the line, but to ensure a place in the 4000 its vital that a Season Card is purchased."
There is every possibility looking at current demand that this is achievable for us which would be a wonderful boost for everyone concerned and for once the ability for a supporter to turn up and pay on the day is highly unlikely to be available for the foreseeable future."
"I’d urge any supporter yet to commit to a Season Card to do so now, as you'd expect of me, as it will help in so many ways logistically for us to get an early sell out of our first game with people in the stands against Wigan Warriors on Friday 11th June at 7:45pm. Everyone not actually on the field of play or coaching and stewarding will count towards the number of 4000 including box holders, directors, press so looking at the direction of travel numbers wise it will quickly add up.”
