Captain's Comments sponsored by Fork Truck Services

Hello and welcome back to the John Smith's Stadium for our first fixture in front of you, our loyal fans since March 11th, 2020. It is 465 days since we've all been together to enjoy the spectacle of a Betfred Super League match and it's not a day too soon to see you again. It's great to be able to train and work towards a game knowing that your supporters will be backing you from the stands on your own turf, it's a feeling that's been missing for so long.

We're also so grateful to the supporters who travelled to both Leigh and Wakefield to back up in our last two Super League games. We appreciate your support, as we have done throughout this torrid period of nearly 15 months.

Our last match against Wakefield Trinity was a disappointing performance for the whole squad, and provided a bit of a wake up call for us. We didn't show the intensity and sturdiness that made our matches against Leigh, Warrington and Leeds so positive and in front of the travelling fans, many of whom hadn't seen the team in some time, that was disappointing.

Obviously the effect of Covid-19 on the camp has meant we've had to wait yet more time for this game, but after 465 days, we're chomping at the bit to put the last result right and to get back the momentum and the quality of play on show in our victories this season. With the backing of you, the fans, I'm confident we'll be able to do that. You've been missed and we're so grateful for the support you've given us from a distance. We're excited to see you all again after all this time and can’t wait to get out there again tonight.

MICHAEL LAWRENCE,

Huddersfield Giants Club Captain
