Giants matchday to keep Summer ‘vibe alive’ with Huddersfield Carnival
Huddersfield Giants matchday against Leigh Centurions will be keeping the summer 'vibe alive' as Huddersfield Carnival performers will be making an appearance at the last game of the Betfred Super League season, with tickets for Kids available for just £1.
With funding from Huddersfield High Street Heritage Action Zone and Arts Council England they have produced Carnival costumes based on the theme of Huddersfield as the Birthplace of Rugby League.
The designs are produced by Carnival Arts Practitioner Kamal Alaoui of Flamboyan Arts, Notting Hill.
Volunteers from Huddersfield Carnival Committee, local Carnival Performers, Mas Bands, students from Huddersfield University Costume and Textiles department as well as people from the community have learned new skills as well as bringing their existing skills to get the costumes ready.
Huddersfield Giants supporters will be able to sample the Carnival atmosphere pre-match, as the dancers and performers showcase their skills and colourful costumes on arrival to the match.
