Academy, Reserves and Scholarship round-up.

With the Academy, Reserves and Scholars season underway, we'll take a look at the recent results, including a huge win for the Scholarship side.
With much of the attention dedicated to the First Team, its only right we recognise the younger stars of our club within our pathway system we boast at the Giants, in our Academy, Reserves and Scholarship systems.
All teams having now played at least one game, we will look at the results and how they have started their respective seasons, with this to become a monthly feature on the Giants website.
Reserves
The Huddersfield Giants Reserves, headed by Tom Tsang and assisted by Steve Fox, have started the season with one win and one loss, defeating Wakefield Trinity reserves 66-4, in a comprehensive performance, lead around the field by Olly Russell and Kieran Rush.
Olly Russell showed his high quality talent in this fixture, scoring a well worked try and setting up countless others, Harry Rushton the beneficiary, as he scored his first try for the club, which set him up for back-to-back first team appearances vs St Helens and Wigan.
They were, however defeated by a strong Wigan Warriors side last weekend, 32-12 as Tom Tsang gave his fringe players game time and experience playing against one of the competitions best.
The Reserves is a great competition to watch some of our stars in action before they make their bout for the first team, previously Harry Rushton and Harvey Livett.
Sam Halsall, who recently starred in the First Team vs Saints, was awarded Man of the Match in the game vs Wigan Warriors at Laund Hill.
The Reserves next game is away at London Broncos, this Saturday 1st April.
Academy
Our Academy played their first game of the season, vs St Helens on Saturday afternoon, one of, if not the best team in the Academy competition and fell 32-2 at Laund Hill, Oliver Whitford scoring the penalty goal.
It was however a battling performance and one to be proud of, from the Giants academy which included a number of new players making the step up from the previous years Scholarship system.
They will be looking to record their first victory next time out, as they take on another strong Academy in Leeds Rhinos, on the 7th April at Stunningly ARLFC, all Academy fixtures can be found here, although they all are subject to change but changes will be published on the website.
Scholarship
The new look Scholarship side made their debut on Wednesday night at Laund Hill vs Newcastle Thunder, defeating the North East side 66-4 in what was a superb performance.
Monty Lumb, Thomas Hardy and Leyton Atkinson all scoring within the first 20 minutes of the game, Logan Blacker and Demir Acarer also scoring in the first half to put Steve Fox's side 32-4 to the good.
The scoring didn't stop there though, as Logan Blacker and Archie Sykes crossed the whitewash in the second half, Demir Acarer raced over for his hat-trick late in the half, with Monty Lumb adding his 2nd and Marshall Land scoring to round off a perfect start to the 2023 season.
Steve Fox will be looking to lead his side to two wins out of two, as they take on Hull FC at the University of Hull, on Wednesday 5th April, 7:00pm Kick-Off.
All Academy, Scholarship and Reserves fixtures are available on our Instagram account (giantsrl_official) as a pinned post, however changes to fixtures will be published on our website.
