ACADEMY, RESERVES & SCHOLARSHIP ROUND-UP

Let's take a look at how our pathway system teams are currently doing, with Tom Tsang's Academy & Reserves and Steve Fox's Scholarship sides.

Academy (Head Coach Tom Tsang)

Our Academy side secured a huge win over one of the competitions hottest teams in Leeds Rhinos, with a 34-30 victory over our local rivals at Stanningley ARLFC.

Centre Jack Hudson scored a mammoth four tries as he led the side to a win over a side filled with quality.

The Giants had a healthy lead going into the last 20 minutes of the game, but it was brought closer as the Rhinos hit back with a number of late scores that brought the game back to four points, but Tom Tsang's side held on for the victory.

Five Academy Giants have also been included in the Yorkshire Academy side to take on Lancashire in the Origin Series that is coming up, you can read more about the series by clicking here.

Our Academy side take on another local rival Bradford Bulls this weekend, and Laund Hill with a 10:30am kick off, Adults go for £5.

We'd love to see as many of you supporting the future stars of the club, as they look to build on their superb win over Leeds Rhinos two weeks ago.

Reserves (Head Coach Tom Tsang)

Our Reserves have continued their excellent form, defeating Newcastle Thunder most recently, as they ran out 30-18 winners at Laund Hill.

Ben Dean, Tommy Brierley and Oliver Whitford scored, Darius Carter scoring a fourth try before the break to send Tom Tsang's side 20-6 to the good at half-time.

Jack Hudson continued his fine scoring form, by crossing the line in the Reserves this time, with Ben Dean scoring his second of the afternoon to secure the victory.

The Reserves side also racked up a huge score away at London Broncos, as they defeated the capital side 4-76, with some eye-catching tries scored on a successful afternoon for our young side.

Highlights from that game can be viewed on our YouTube channel by clicking here.

The Giants Reserves next take on Hull FC away at the University of Hull, Saturday 29th April with a 12:00pm kick off.

Scholarship (Head Coach Steve Fox)

Steve Fox's side made the trip to the University of Hull as they faced off against Hull FC, and came out winners by 38-14, in what was an excellent performance in tough, rainy conditions in Hull.

Forwards Pat Houston and Jacob Algar had an industrious game in the forward pack and paved the way for some free flowing attacking build up, which saw us score a number of tries on the evening.

GRM Sport captured footage from behind the sticks of this game, and can be viewed here.

The Scholarship feature next vs Castleford Tigers at Laund Hill, this Wednesday 19th April with a 7:00pm kick off, Adults go for just £5.
