Match Report | St Helens | Magic Weekend

Huddersfield Giants lost out 48-6 to St Helens at Magic Weekend.
Adam Milner was selected for his Giants Debut, as he started on the interchange bench.
The Giants started with lightening quick speed, as Tui Lolohea kicked in-behind the Saints rear-guard, Jake Bibby looked odds on to score but he couldn’t reach it, Kevin Naiqama came racing in and made sure we got the first points on the board however, touching down.
Saints hit back soon after, as Lewis Dodd’s kick wasn’t taken, the ball found its way to Konrad Hurrell who scored.
Discipline was the Giants enemy in the first half, as several penalties allowed the Saints field possession, and they made it pay as the returning Mark Percival was on hand to take a Jack Welsby offload and score underneath the posts.
Paul Wellens’ side then extended their lead further, as prolific winger Tommy Makinson crossed in the corner, as the Giants were left short. The winger picked himself up to convert making the scores 16-6.
Ian Watson’s men had their chances, after Tee Ritson gave away a penalty, the Giants would set up on the Saints’ 20m line, but an error saw the chance break down to compound a first half of little fluidity in attack, leaving the scores at 16-6.
The second half started the same way as the first, with another penalty awarded to Saints and they made the most of it, crashing over the line through Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Tommy Makinson adding the extras yet again.
The Giants couldn’t stop the Saints charge, as Tommy Makinson would get his second of the afternoon, a looping ball out wide found the winger who finished in the corner.
Two more tries came the way of the Saints, through Konrad Hurrell and Tommy Makinson who completed his hat-trick, diving over in the corner as the Giants were helpless to the Saints’ ruthlessness in front of the try line.
The Saints winger would then grab his fourth of the afternoon, as Saints really took advantage of Makinson’s side as the ball was sprayed out to him, and he dotted down to extend the lead.
Darcy Lussick crossed the line late on, to condem the Giants to a heavy defeat at Magic Weekend.
