Harry Rushton Tackles the Tough Stuff

Super League’s mental and physical health campaign returns in 2023, working alongside our clubs and to Tackle the Tough Stuff.

In partnership with Rugby League Cares, the Tackle the Tough Stuff campaign continues to highlight some of the most pressing issues surrounding physical and mental health.

Over Rounds 20 and 21 several members of the Rugby League family will share their deeply personal stories with the hope of reaching out and guiding others who are going through similar experiences. You’ll hear from Ex-Giant Jonny Grayshon on learning about how to grow as a man with his experiences in Rugby League, Ashton Golding on overcoming adversity and the mentality it takes and today from Harry Rushton who has already experienced so much as a young player.

The past three years have been incredibly difficult for everyone, leaving many feeling anxious, isolated, or bereaved. Between Covid-19 and a cost-of-living crisis, many people from the Rugby League heartlands have been disproportionately affected. Over 3 million people in the UK are now dependant on foodbanks each year, and 1 in 4 of us suffer from a form of mental health problems.

Ahead of our fixture against Hull FC we will shine a light on not only the problem, but the avenue to seek help. Because together, we can Tackle the Tough Stuff.

In this feature (On Youtube: Tackle the Tough Stuff: Harry Rushton - YouTube and Giants in full and FREE on GiantsTV: Tackle the Tough Stuff - Harry Rushton | My Sports Online) we spoke to new Giant for 2023 Harry Rushton, whose career has already taken him all the way across the world and back. He's had leave family behind, adapt to a new world, overcome COVID isolation and make a huge decision after a horrific injury.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Harry for sharing his story for the first time and for being so open and honest when it came to answering questions. He's journey should be eye opening for us all as it allows us to consider what are the most important aspects of our lives, and how together we are able to overcome obstacles.
