Ahead of today's game vs Hull FC, we're going to take a look at the former players of Huddersfield RLFC who will be receiving their Heritage Certificates.
Dave Weavill Heritage Number 782
Signed From St Joseph ARLFC in 1970 Made his Debut 17th October V Leeds
A strong running Prop forward played 84 matches, and scored 19 tries
Left Fartown for Warrington in 1976 and finished his career at Dewsbury & Hunslet
Darren Simpson Heritage Number 1128
Darren Simpson was signed from Lindley Swifts in April 1998.
A strong running winger, Darren made his debut in the claret and gold on 23 August 1998 against London.
Darren made 18 super league appearances in 1998 and 1999, scoring 5 tries.
The merger with Sheffield Eagles led to no further opportunities with his home town club and Darren played a few games in the following two seasons with Hunslet and Gateshead
Trevor Doyle Heritage Number 797
Trevor- is one of four brothers to wear the Claret and Gold. Trevor, Jim (number 818), Brian ( number 781) and Ronnie ( number 838).
Trevor signed for Huddersfield from St Joseph’s, making his first team debut against Keighley on 16 September 1972.
A member of Huddersfield’s 1974/75 Second Division Championship winning side, Trevor made 98 appearances for the club, mainly in the centre, scoring 18 tries.
Trevor’s final game was against Dewsbury on 11 April 1977. A serious injury sustained in this match forcing him into early retirement.
Milford Sutcliffe Heritage Number 15
Signed From Netheroyd Hill
Debut 22nd September 1894 v Halifax at 16 years of age
Played 285 ganes & scored 261 points
Played in the first northern union game & captained the side for 7 years
Last match 27th October 1906 v Hull KR
He was Chairman of the club when ‘The Team of all Talents’ who won all four trophies in 1914/15
Milford's family will be collecting his certificate on behalf of Milford.
