TOM TSANG SIGNS NEW DEAL AS ACADEMY HEAD COACH

Academy and Reserves Head Coach Tom Tsang has penned a new two-year deal at the Huddersfield Giants.

Since joining the club, Tom has guided our Academy and Reserves ever since and has seen the emergence of young stars such as Kieran Rush, Aidan McGowan and Fenton Rogers, who will all be looking to stamp their authority on the Giants first team next season.

Fenton and Aidan have both had outstanding consistent seasons in the Betfred Championship with Bradford and Batley alike, Kieran has also lit up the competition for Keighley, however injuries and concussions disrupting his season.

Highly regarded by players and staff alike, Tom also oversees the Reserves team which has gone from strength to strength ever since its introduction.

We discussed leading the Giants pathway system for the next two years with Tom, after penning his new deal.

"I'm very excited to continue with the Academy and Reserves here at the Giants, All of the staff here feel we have been able to massively improve the programme over past 2 seasons, coming out of the disruption of Covid. 

"Im confident that the foundations that have been laid will mean we can go to new heights, not just in 2024 but for many years to come.

"This past season we had a very young group and they still showed huge improvements from the year before. The experience they all gained should put them in a great place for a successful year in 2024. The were put through a lot of adversity, having to play a lot more games and to a much higher intensity than they will have ever experienced before, so now they can hit the ground running. 

"The incoming group from the u16s are also very exciting and will be doing everything they can to earn their place in the squad come the start of the season, so we're expecting a very intense and competitive pre-season. 

"One of the most fulfilling elements of my job is building relationships with all the players and seeing them grow and flourish in the environment we put around them. They make my job easier, knowing I'm turning up to a group of driven and talented young men who are just striving to improve themselves daily. It's a privilege to coach them."
