Giants Women announce friendlies with Barrow and St Helens

Huddersfield Giants Women are pleased to announce our pre-season friendlies at Laund Hill with Barrow Raiders and St Helens respectively.

With SCAT testing and Cardio scans out of the way, the Giants Women can crack on with the tough stuff leading up to their first set of games.

Recently promoted Barrow Raiders will get their first taste of top-level Women’s Super League action against the Giants on the 25th of February at Laund Hill, kicking off at 2pm.

The Giants last played the Raiders in the 2019 Women’s Championship but fell to defeat on both occasions.

Barrow had been plying their trades in Group 2 of the Women’s Super League since promotion from the Championship in 2021.

This year, the Raiders finished joint first on points with G2 League Leaders Featherstone though behind on point difference.

Barrow fought with Leigh Leopards in the Promotion Play-offs 14-8 to secure their place in the restructured 2024 WSL.

The Raiders will make the 204-mile round trip to Laund Hill in late February for their pre-season preparation.

We would like to thank Barrow for their commitment to the friendly and wish them safe travels.

The Giants Women will face St Helens the week after on the 3rd March, also at Laund Hill, kicking off at 2pm.

Saints won the first Women’s Challenge Cup held at Wembley Stadium versus Leeds Rhinos, though a golden point try from Sophie Robinson in the WSL semis denied the Matty Smith-led side any further silverware in their season.

Tickets for both fixtures are priced at £5 for adults and £1 for Under 16s, with both cash and card payment options available.
