First Bus and Huddersfield team up to unveil Giants bus

Huddersfield Giants announces that First Bus has renewed its partnership for a second season to support greener goals of club and the bus operator.

To celebrate the agreement, players broke off from training to unveil a fully wrapped double-decker showing off the club’s branding and featuring stars including Jake Connor, Sam Halsall, Oliver Russell and now Women's England player Amelia Brown.

They will work together to promote the sustainability ambitions of both organisations throughout the 2024 season.

Helping fans travel to home games more cheaply and reduce their carbon footprint, First Bus and the Giants have created a specially discounted day ticket with the normal cost cut by a third to £3 for a trip to and from the John Smiths Stadium to see all Super League games.

Season ticket holders can also get a discount on the price of a monthly First Bus ticket giving unlimited journeys for four weeks.

Giants legend and club ambassador Eorl Crabtree of Huddersfield Giants said: “Over the past 5 years, I cannot express enough how immensely proud I am of the incredible partnership we have forged with First Bus. Their unwavering support and generosity have granted us a remarkable opportunity to have our very own First bus, completely adorned with our iconic Giants branding. It is our utmost desire for the Giants to be prominently visible in the public eye and gain the exposure that our beloved sport truly deserves. Thanks to First Bus, we now possess the perfect platform to achieve this goal, and we are eagerly anticipating the sight of the claret and gold Giants bus cruising along the roads.”

The branded bus is sure to be a hit with fans when the Giants face Saints in their first home game in the Betfred Super League on 24 February.

Lucy Mottram, Marketing Manager for First Bus in West Yorkshire, said: “This cements our already strong links with the club. We’re delighted to promote the development of its squad across all age groups and the club’s future as well as supporting greener options for fan travel.”

First Bus has a clear strategy to reduce emissions and create cleaner air in towns and cities. This is being achieved with a recent investment of £1.68m in the fleet together with newer vehicles replacing older buses, all operating to the best ultra-low emissions standards.

Lucy added: “This partnership builds on our shared goal of helping to reduce the carbon footprint of Rugby League fans.”

We know many have seen the bus already but we can't wait to see the Giants' Claret and Gold shining bright on the bus around Huddersfield and Kirklees!
