Inside Malaga Day 4: Young Connor Carr aiming to learn from the best

Day 4 in the sunny Spanish city of Malaga and the boys are being put through their paces!

The squad that has travelled to Spain consists of seasoned pros and a few young hopefuls aiming to improve their game and learn from the more experienced members of the team.

Connor Carr, who came through the Scholarship and Academy at the club, is one of those young lads who is taking everything in and learning as much as possible to enhance his game.

He’s enjoying the warm weather, and hasn’t been frightened to get stuck in and get his hands dirty.

“It’s really good to be a part of. It’s much better in the sunshine than it is in the snow. All the lads are spending a lot of time together and working hard for each other, it’s been a very good experience so far.”

Carr is looking up to the older boys, and being an information sponge on and off the field. He revealed the two players within the squad that he is having conversations with, and who has taken him under their wing a little.

“I’m learning off the older boys and watching what they do and how they do things. In particular Adam Swift and Leroy Cudjoe! They have been teaching me a lot. If I ever make a mistake or could do something better, they’ll pull me aside and I’m asking them questions. I watch what they do and take it all in. They make some great decisions on the field so learning how they think, I can make my game better from that.”

Carr is a player that wants to impress, be patient and take his chance when it arrives. He speaks about his goals and aspirations for the coming season, and touches on the advice that he has received from Luke Robinson and Liam Finn.

“They’ve given me encouragement. They just tell me to learn off the older boys too. They’re getting me to do the best I can to improve. My goal for 2025 I’d like to make my debut, get some game time and play with the boys. Coming through the system at Huddersfield it’s always been my goal to play for the first team here and that’s not changed.”
