Huddersfield Giants are delighted to announce that young forward Jacob Algar has penned a professional two-year contract with the club.
Commencing from December 1st, Jacob Algar will sign his first professional contract with the club he has come through the pathway at, impressing at Scholarship and Academy level, he has been rewarded for his hard work.
The forward, who featured yesterday in the Reserves fixture vs Salford Red Devils, was named in Luke Robinson's 21-Man Squad to face Catalans, and could very well feature in the future, with Algar regarded highly within the club.
Jacob Algar commented on penning a first-team professional contract.
"I'm very happy to be signing a first team contract with the club at such a young age, I couldn’t be happier that Luke Robinson and Liam Finn are putting the trust in me, giving me the opportunity to develop over the next two years at the club.
"It's a real exciting time for me, I just want to work hard and repay the faith they've shown in me.
Academy Head Coach Steve Fox commented on the development of Jacob Algar from Scholarship level.
"He's a big and athletic lad, with great leg speed, he can play front or back row and he's got great awareness within the game and so robust, he's going to be the complete package.
"When I came here, I got more of a role to develop the players and Jacob is a real success story, there's more to come as well, there's no doubt about that, I got him here as a fourteen year old and he's developed just as we thought he would.
"Depending on where Robbo sees him in the future, we believe he can play front or back row and he will excel in those positions, he's got superb work ethic and you can't teach that, he wants to learn and he has that desire to reach the next level."
