Newton to Captain Wales Academy this weekend!

Some fantastic news coming out of international Academy Rugby today, with one of our own being selected to not only appear on the International stage, but to Captain his country!
Young Charlie Newton has been appointed the captain of the Wales Academy side, who take on Ireland in their opening four nations tomorrow (Saturday) at Neath RFC.
Charlie said "I qualify for wales through my grandmas heritage as she was born in Brithdir in the valleys of Wales making me eligible to play."
"I’m really proud to be named as captain for Wales! It’s a great honour to be able to lead the team out onto the field. When Gary, my coach, gave me the call to say I was playing I was buzzing but then to say he was naming me captain too, It was a really special moment that I could then share with my family members. I’m just really grateful for the opportunity given to me and can’t wait to get out there with boys."
Head coach of the Academy, Steve Fox congratulated Charlie on his call up.
“I think its a massive congratulations to Charlie and an honour to play for his country! He’s got captaincy through hard work and we all couldn’t be prouder of him. All involved in the academy would like to wish him luck tomorrow and we hope he puts his best foot forward, which we’re sure he will.”
Everyone at the Giants would like to wish Charlie the best of luck! Go and smash it!
