ACADEMY GIANTS PUSHING FOR PLAY OFFS

It’s been a brilliant season for the young Academy Giants thus far, with many of the team stepping up into the reserves alongside their quest for the play offs.

They began their season with a huge 66-14 win away at Salford, and then backed it up by defeating St Helens 26-16 at Laund Hill.

A trip to Leeds as part of a double header with the first team saw their first blip of the season in a tough defeat, but bounced right back a round later, putting Salford to the sword once again running out 54-18 victors.

Off the back of that win, they stretched their winning run a further three games, with comprehensive victories over Castleford and Leigh, and coming out on the right end of a very tight game against Hull KR, winning 40-38! Four games, four wins, 152 points scored!

Injuries in this sport do happen, and makeshift sides against Wigan and Hull FC unfortunately culminated in back-to-back defeats. The disappointment of those were short-lived, however, after a 56-6 domination of Bradford last week, put their campaign well and truly back on track.

Two games remain, with Laund Hill the venue for Steve Fox’s side's clash vs Warrington on the 23rd August, before a final day showdown at the DIY Kitchens Stadium at Wakefield Trinity a week later.

The Academy Giants currently sit on 14 points in 3rd place, with the chasing pack of St Helens and Wigan in 4th and 5th respectively, both on 12 points.

We would like to thank the Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association for their fantastic work in supporting our Academy boys throughout this campaign. Without them, the Academy games wouldn’t run as smoothly as they do and we wouldn’t be able to accommodate the fantastic support they have had at Laund Hill this season.
