MATCH REPORT: Saints v Giants

A very tough afternoon on Merseyside for the Giants. Here's how things unfolded...
After an impeccable tribute to the fallen soldiers on this VJ Day weekend, the game got underway. Saints were in front after 5 minutes after a Sailor break, finished off by Percival. Taane Milne was then sent to the sin bin by referee Jack Smith for dissent, leaving the Giants down on troops.
The hosts exploited the extra man advantage with an overlap to the right edge, and Feldt added his name to the scoresheet. It got worse just 4 minutes later as Sailor climbed highest in a battle with Flanagan to claim the high bomb and went in alone to dot down.
Dagnell went on a barrelling run and couldn’t be stopped by the Giants defence to add another, before Greenwood crashed over from close range to get the Giants on the board just before the interval.
Just a minute after the restart, Saints had another. Lomax this time benefitting from a two-on-one with Sailor to score under the sticks. Knowles crashed over 5 minutes later to extend the lead further. Percival had another on 55 minutes after being in the right spot at the right time for a Batchelor offload.
Feldt had a second on the hour mark, climbing highest to claim a Welsby kick to the corner. Sailor added another in arguably the pick of the tries for the hosts, cutting through from 50m out and going the distance.
The Giants came close after Fenton Rogers charged in, but couldn’t take the pass in cleanly to muster an attempt at grounding.
