GRITTY PERFORMANCE SEES GIANTS TAKE DESERVED TWO POINTS

Huddersfield Giants put in a gritty and determined performance to take two points as they defeated Warrington Wolves 23-10.
Luke Robinson was pushed into enforced changes, with the injury to Matt Frawley and the suspension to Taane Milne, he introduced Olly Russell and Aidan McGowan.
The latter opened the scoring early on, as George Flanagan teased Toby King, he sent the ball out wide to Aidan McGowan who crashed over in the corner.
Flanagan added the extras from out wide and we were in the lead, however Warrington would soon turn the game around in what was a frantic ten minutes.
An error at the back saw the ball come loose in-goal and there was Connor Wrench for Warrington to score, before Sam Burgess' men were awarded a penalty, and Toby King took advantage to cross, 6-10 the score stood at the break.
The first 20-minutes of the second half saw both sides struggle for field position and then came the turning point, with some great attacking play we levelled up the scores.
As the game moved into the latter stages, we charged upfield and Josh Thewlis was looking for a penalty when the ball came out on his own line, the decision was knock-on and we found the score.
We attacked the Warrington line, and some smart play from loanee Olly Russell saw him step George Williams, and dab a sweet grubber in-behind which was collected by Gagai and he scored, Flanagan's kick went over one post, but due to the height it was difficult to tell if it had actually crossed and was waved away.
From that moment on, we looked forward and not back and it was to be us who took the lead.
The excellent George Flanagan then took advantage of some great work by the ever excellent Gagai who cut inside and sent him crashing past Matt Dufty to hand the Giants the lead once again, and this time we wouldn't let it slip.
Luke Robinson's men didn't let the 14-10 lead sway them however, as if at first you don't succeed with a drop-goal being charged down, try again and that's exactly what Russell did, slotting the one pointer to give us a two-score advantage.
With Warrington out on their feet, and looking to overplay, with seconds remaining they knocked on metres out from their own line and on the resulting set, Kieran Rush and George Flanagan combined again to send the latter over, marking a MOTM performance for the young full-back.
