FAN Q&A - George Flanagan

George answers 10 of your fan questions!

Q: What is your pre match routine?
GF: "It’s kind of different every week depending on the time we’re playing. I like to be chilled, have a chilled morning, and get a walk in sometimes. I’m very steady on game day and don’t really do too much."

Q: What does it mean to you to play for the Giants?
GF: "It means a lot. Growing up watching Super league I watched every team. Watching Huddersfield they were always a good team. Playing for the club and the fans is big for me. The fans are always very passionate and always turn up no matter how hard it gets. The people, the fans, the staff involved in the club."

Q: Did you expect this year to be a breakout year for you?
GF: "I was always hoping it would be. I didn’t think it would be this year but I trained hard and worked towards the goal of playing Super League. I think i’ve exceeded my own expectations. Not many people knew what I was about but I feel like i’ve put myself out there and I’m grateful to be playing."

Q: Which teammate would you least like running at you and why?
GF: "Tom Burgess. He’s a big lad."

Q: Who is your sporting hero?
GF: "Out of Rugby League, I’d go Tyson Fury, in Rugby League definitely my Dad. He’s always been my hero going watching him."

Q: Is it superstition to wear your scrum hat when you play?
GF: "Yeah, from a young age, I’ve worn it. Since I was a kid I’ve had it on. Id feel lost without it playing without it."

Q: Do you know the words to the song that the fans have got for you?
GF: "It’s the ‘Here’s to you Georgie Flanagan one! I’ve heard it from the stands a few times and I like hearing it. It spurs me on, as do the fans every time they show up and make their noise."

Q: Any ambitions to play in the NRL?
GF: "I do. If i ever got the opportunity in later years, I’d grab it with both hands. Right now obviously I’m fully focussed on the Giants, I’ve signed that extension earlier in the year, so right now I’m concentrating on that."

Q: Would you rather win a Super League Grand Final or a Challenge Cup Final?
GF: "I’d have to say, the Grand Final. It’s the pinnacle of Rugby League in this country, so I’d love to win it one day."

Q: What would you want be if you weren’t a Rugby Player?
GF: "I’d like to try it out and be a boxer, you know."
