Giants beat Salford in fitting tribute to Legend Leroy

Here's how the action unfolded...

An emotional start to the day with Leroy Cudjoe entering the field at the Accu Stadium for the final time through a guard of honour.

Salford struck first in the match, when Sangare barged his way over seven minutes in. Milnes added the conversion before nudging the visitors further ahead shortly after. A penalty for offside against Giants half-back Kieran Rush, allowed Milnes the opportunity for a penalty goal to make the difference eight points.

The Giants did get off the mark shortly before the interval. A high kick on the last from Russell was kept alive brilliantly, finding Ashton Golding. The Giants #14 couldn’t be stopped and went over to score his first try of the season.

A cagey affair in the second half at The Accu, with knock on after knock on in wet conditions.

It wasn’t until the 70th minute that the Giants struck again. Swift, who had been off for a HIA, back on with his first carry cut inside after it was thrown his way and went in to give the Giants a chance at the lead, with Flanagan converting to do just that.

Two minutes later, Gagai won an aerial contest and got to the ground to dot over for another score, and make it game set and match.

On the hooter, Kieran Rush was in the right place to get his first Super League try, after George King’s perfect offload sent the young half away under the posts.

A touching moment at the end of the 80, as Leroy Cudjoe slotted the conversion from in front of the sticks.

Final Score: Giants 22-8 Red Devils
