FLANAGAN NOMINATED FOR SUPER LEAGUE AWARD

The Giants are thrilled that promising young Full Back, George Flanagan has been nominated for the Young Player of the Year at this year’s Super League End of Season Awards

George has featured in 25 of the Giants’ games this season, scoring 10 tries, kicking a whopping 44 goals!

In what has been a breakthrough year for George, to be even considered for this award is a huge achievement for him. At just 20 years of age, he has a very bright future in front of him. George recently signed a new contract with the club, keeping him a Giant until at least the end of 2027!

Five clubs have players in the running for the 2025 Young Player of the Year awards in the Betfred Super League and Women’s Super League competitions.

Junior Nsemba, the 2024 winner of the Betfred Super League Young Player of the Year, is nominated again as he remains eligible, having turned 21 in June.

Also nominated are the Huddersfield Giants full-back George Flanagan, Hull FC’s wing Lewis Martin – the competition’s leading try-scorer with 25 – and the St Helens utility back Harry Robertson, who has played mostly at centre.

Robertson is in the running to follow in the footsteps of Jack Welsby, the last Saints winner of the award who is one of only two players, with Sam Tomkins, to have won it twice, in 2021 and 2022 – an achievement which Nsemba could now emulate.

Hull FC have had four different winners of the award in the Super League era, the last of them Ben Crooks in 2013, while Flanagan is in the running to become Huddersfield’s first ever winner.
