MAGNIFIQUE - COZZA BECOMES FIRST NEW SIGNING

Huddersfield Giants are delighted to announce the signing of French International forward Mathieu Cozza on a one-year deal.

The French international becomes one of our first new signings, as we gear up for the upcoming 2026 season, with more to be announced this week.

Cozza has made his name in the English game for his strong running, firm tackling style at loose forward, during his years at Featherstone where he won the League Leaders Shield, and then at Wakefield where he helped Trinity to a top-six finish in their first season back.

After the retirement of Leroy Cudjoe, Mathieu will be looking to battle with Harry Rushton for that covered 13 spot in our Starting 13.

At the age of 25, Cozza is only just coming into his prime and has his best years ahead of him, with the forward also set to feature for France in their upcoming world-cup qualifier.

Mathieu commented on making the move to the Giants.

"Really pleased that this deal is signed and my future is sorted, I was waiting for the right opportunity and I have lots still to improve on, I'm excited to get started at Huddersfield.

"I've been in Yorkshire for three years now, I'm getting used to it and I'm happy to stay here and sign for Huddersfield.

"I've been training through the off-season to keep my fitness up, especially with the upcoming international game against Jamaica in two weeks, we're also training vs Australia too which will be a good opportunity for me."

Head Coach Luke Robinson also commented on Cozza.

"We're delighted to get Cozza over the line, there was obviously a spot in the loose forward position with Leroy retiring and we feel that Mathieu fits the bill.

"He's consistently fit and available to feature which is what we're looking for in our signings, and we cant wait to see him in action, we feel he'll fit in seamlessly with him used to English Rugby League now."
