ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR GIANTS PATHWAY

It's not all about flashy new signings during a season, with the Giants pathway proving strong once again with numerous debutants in Super League during 2025.

The 2025 season was one that started off with disruption with numerous pre-season injuries, with players missing during the season, however this paved the way for some of our outstanding young talent to test themselves within the first team environment and then further within a Super League game.

The first was the duo of Archie Sykes and Jacob Algar, the second year academy back-rower and prop were given their debuts vs Leeds Rhinos away, a very proud moment for both young men who had been going excellently in the reserves and Academy, both will now join up with the first team for the 26 season.

Next up, Marshall Land also took to the field and partnered up with Kieran Rush, a former Academy half/hooker who is now well integrated into the first team, after loanee Olly Russell couldn't play vs his partner club.

Unfortunately it wasn't to be a win that day, but a memorable day for Marshall, whose experience will have well prepared him for the upcoming seasons, as he also moves into the first team alongside Jacob and Archie.

Then, on the last game of the season, in came a shock call up for first year Academy winger Lewis Jagger who had impressed the coaching staff in training and during the season, came in to make his debut vs Leigh Leopards with Adam Swift not able to play.

He took the chance with both hands and went flying over in the corner after some good play from Olly Russell and George Flanagan, a memorable try on his Super League debut for the 17 year old.

Lewis will continue into his second year in the Academy, while featuring for the Reserves as well.

There were also numerous other players who were pushing for a first team spot, including Monty Lumb and Logan Blacker who are on the cusp of making their debuts, with both featuring in the friendly vs Bradford at the start of the year.

We would like to thank our excellent pathway staff from Scholarship to Academy and Reserves, who nurture these young men into the fine athletes they become when they represent the Claret and Gold, at every level, and this shows how exciting the future is for the Huddersfield Giants.
