Match Report - Hull KR

Huddersfield Giants suffered a 6-32 defeat at the hands of Hull KR in the Betfred Super League Round 4.

A depleted Giants team came into this game vs Hull KR looking to take their first two points of the season, but it was the visitors who took the first try of the game, Oliver Gildart crashing over in the left corner with five minutes on the clock.

Huddersfield pushed hard, but some poor passes and spilled ball saw us fail to capitalise on field position, which we had plenty of in the opening 20.

Milne was unfortunately on the end of a heavy challenge and he spilled the ball 20m out from our own line, this gave the Robins a full attacking set, and they crossed in the Corner through Tom Davies to extend the lead.

Another try came from the other Robins wingman Joe Burgess soon after, some good play from the left hand side saw him walk in, the score standing at 0-16 at the half-time hooter.

After the break, the electric Mikey Lewis stepped through our defence to extend the lead, with the visitors taking full control of proceedings.

There was a consolation try for the Giants, with George Flanagan scoring underneath the posts from a neat kick, however he was taken late while scoring and that meant he hobbled off the field.

Matty English was then the victim of a cannonball tackle which saw him helped from the field, the Giants injury woes getting worse with two key players helped by the field.

A final try from Joe Burgess wrapped up the away victory, with the final score ending 6-32 and the Giants facing Hull KR again next weekend in the Betfred Challenge Cup.
